For-profit schools and a number of graduate programs have already changed their admissions process to include digital and they are reaping the benefits.   3. Map the customer journey. Talk to students about their research and decision-making process. You want to understand which content is important at different points in their process and then look to improve your website to meet these needs.
  4. Ask for data and manually collate. Ask for data from admissions and IT and try tying it to the website. This may be manual at first, but it starts the conversation.

What the future looks like

Marketing and admissions working together is a cultural change. It requires marketing to be more goal focused and better at using data. It requires admissions to be more flexible and work in real-time to respond to people’s needs. But when they work together, they can achieve the business goal of attracting students, increasing revenue, and advancing the goals of the institution.
